He is a software engineer by training and has been very active in the technology industry for the past 7 years. Sheriff developed automatic online payroll dispatch solution for University of Ilorin, Federal University of Minna, Niger State and University of Jos between 2007 and 2009. He had a stint in Finance industry working with financial advisory company on IT solutions. Having gained practical knowledge in the industry, Sheriff decided to start sharing “lesson learned” in the industry with start-up companies in Nigerian and Africa by starting Web Trends Nigeria which has now become Nigeria’s leading web industry news and analysis portal.
Sheriff’s insights and comments on new media and web industry have been syndicated on several international websites and he receive daily invites to syndicate with several other leading foreign websites. In February 2010, Sheriff was amongst 8 young Nigerian web innovators invited to Outlook 2010, a leading technology forum for thought leaders and government agencies in technology industry.
As an industry organizer, Sheriff has been at the forefront promoting technology adoption, capacity building and engaging forum for young people to interact and collaborate in growing the industry. He’s the curator of Barcamp Nigeria; a platform for technology industry discussion and peer learning.
Sheriff, being a software engineer recently developed and launched a Road Traffic Monitoring application for Nigeria, which won at the last Mobile Web West Africa held at Eko Hotel, Lagos. He subsequently qualified to represent the country at the global edition of the competition in the United States of America.
